We're on lockdown!

The police are chasing the Boston Marathon bombers! Mama and Papa got emergency texts from Harvard through the night. First, MIT had shootings reported. Now one suspect is in Watertown (two miles from our home). There was gunfire exchanged and more bombs found.

Anyway, how does this affect me? Well, we're instructed by the police and FBI not to leave our homes... That means no going to The Potty for Coopie!! Yikes.

Happy Birthday to Cooper!

April 17. It's my birthday! I got a cake and steak from Mama and Papa. Good day. Thanks guys.

April 18. I had an even bigger cake at work too! I enjoyed bringing smiles to my colleagues as they all came to share my cake. Pics to follow soon...

I'm on TV again!

Channel One News aired a feature about me today nationally! Apparently, I'm lighting up the Twitter-universe with comments from teens about my cuteness!! Check out my video here:

My new profession!

I've been asked to review The ToughHound All Sports dog collar. It can be found at the Dog Bark Collar store.

This collar is quite stylish. I chose an espresso brown to match my coat. It features a nameplate that is integrated with the collar, so it lies flat and flush against your neck. I like this feature 'cuz normally my tags jingle quite a bit and everyone can hear all of my movements-/ not so good if you wanna sneak up on your family. Another nice feature is that the nameplate could never fall off, so I wouldn't have to worry about my contact information being lost. Speaking of which, the laser-engraved etching allows you to personalize the collar with 4 lines of text in various fonts (to protect my privacy, my information has been blurred in the above photograph).

The collar is made from highly-durable polycoated webbing which will likely last a long time-- especially if you're a pup like me who likes to chew on it whenever it comes off! The ToughHound’s collar is non-porous, dries rapidly, and doesn't absorb typical doggy odors.

My only problem with this collar is that the buckle is a bit too heavy and large for a masculine, yet petit dog, like myself. I would have also preferred it if they made a ToughHound harness, since my Mama insists that my neck is fragile and prefers not to pull on it for my safety. That being said, if you're a "hefty" and meaty kinda dog, than ToughHound All Sports is for you!

"Cooper is overdue."

Did someone forget to return me?

Yesterday, after his day in the clinic, I overheard Papa tell Mama that he had a medical student with him that knew me. He didn't know Dr Anderson was my Papa, and proceeded to tell Papa his Cooper story:
"We have a dog at the medical school. It's really cool. We can check him out. I checked him out the other day and later, when I got home, I got an email saying 'Please return Cooper. Cooper is overdue.' I even had to call the library and tell them I already returned him. It wasn't me. I didn't lose him!"

Those silly medical students!

Turns out, sometimes the librarian forgets to scan me back into the system-- then I'm marked as 'overdue.'

Anyway, what a small world! Papa went on to tell him that he was my (proud) Papa.

I'm gonna be on TV again!

I had an interview with Channel One News. This lovely lady named Maggie Rulli from CBS came up from NYC to film me for a piece. She found me at work and caught me on camera with a few visiting students. If this Therapy Dog gig doesn't work out, I think I might head for Hollywood!

Whoa snow!

That's a lot of snow! I couldn't get out to use the potty on Saturday 'cuz of all that snow. I guess I'll have to help Mama and Papa dig out the driveway!

Woe is me!

My Mama forgot to feed me!!

Oh my God, I thought I was gonna pass out. Someone tell my Mama not to forget my dinner again! I had no energy all night. I tried to tell Mama that I was hungry-- I sat-pretty, tapped her arm and said 'Hey hey hey.' Nothing worked. She simply thought I was begging for her dinner. Well, I was. Duh Mama. I was starving.

This morning, when we were getting ready for our morning walk, I sat where my food bowl was supposed to be and looked up at Mama. Yup, that got her attention. She checked the microwave, and lo and behold...my dinner from last night was found! She must've felt guilty 'cuz I got a huge plate of fresh Blue Buffalo Turkey, rice and veggies for breakfast.

It snowed!

Yippee!! It snowed! For those of you who don't know, I love the snow. I love the feel of the soft fluffiness sinking under my feet and the taste of fresh snow in my mouth. Plus, our house is so pretty when it snows. I love it!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

It's Thanksgiving break at Harvard Medical School-- so I get another vacay. Hooray!

We just made it to Ithaca, NY. It's very bucolic and picturesque here. Lots of places to sniff and to go potty on!

Most of all, I'm with my family. I love it!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Go Pats!

Harvard Union protest

I was a part of the Harvard Union protest yesterday for a fair salary and affordable healthcare. (yes, we pups need health coverage too!) I stood out on the quad with 300 others-- and they even gave me a button. It says, "Harvard works because we do."

They're baaaack!

So the school year has begun and the students are back. I've been a busy guy. A week ago I helped the new students get oriented to the library and today another group of 15 came to see me all at once. I thought I'd take a breather in the late afternoon and sneak a nap, but a nice lady on crutches came to spend time with me. So rather than sleep, I turned on the Coopie-charm. She stayed an hour and a half. I heard the evening librarian telling my Mama this. She was so proud that I did my job and brought a smile to yet another person.

Now I'm exhausted and am looking forward to a good pillow and a little R&R.

Roll out the red carpet It's official. I'm famous.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Check out this meal Papa and I made for Mama. We made a seafood chioppino, Milky way martinis, pinot grigio and lemon bars for dessert (I had turkey jerky). The candles were my idea, but since I couldn't reach, Papa had to light them.

Anyway, all my love to the ladies this Valentine's Day!

Countway Staff

This is the montage of The Countway Library staff.

If there is any confusion, I'm in the center of the first column. (Can someone tell my agent that all photos must be taken from the front from now on?)

Anyway, my Mama was surprised to see that I cooperated for a profile shot. "I'm not stupid Mama. They said , 'Cooper, let's take it from the Right,' and I said, 'ok, how's this?'"

Go Patriots!

Go Pats! Gotta love Tom Brady!

Okay, so here's the truth. Often times when I'm on campus, I hear people calling out my name. "Cooper! Coooooper!" "How's it goin Cooper?" Sometimes I know them, sometimes I don't. Nevertheless, I wag my tail and let them rub and pat my head. It's all good. They think they're friends of mine-- I think they're fans.

I tell myself, "This is what it's like to be Tom Brady!"

I still got it

Mama came to pick me up after work today and was surprised by a student that called out my name near the library parking lot. I ran up to him with my wagging tail and butt when I heard Mama ask, "Cooper, is that your friend?" Then the kid quickly said, "Everyone's Cooper's friend. Cooper only has friends!"

Yeah yeah kid. Thanks. But Mama, let's get it right, k? Everyone's Cooper's fan.

My sad sad life

I didn't know how good I had it in California. Now that I'm back in Boston, my life has fallen apart!

You see, yesterday they forgot me; today, they forgot to FEED me!!! In the dog-world, that's a cardinal sin.

It went like this:
After their long day at work, I greeted Mama and Papa with kisses and a wagging butt and tail. This exchange resulted in Mama preparing my food for dinner. She dishes that yumminess onto a fresh bowl and begins to set it in the microwave -- when lo and behold, she finds my breakfast still in there!! Yeah, that's right-- my Papa forgot about it this morning and left without feeding me! Oh Papa, how could you?

Woe is me. What has happened to my idyllic suburban life?

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

They forgot me.

I returned to work today. Hooray! I could barely contain my excitement to see my colleagues and patrons.

The day went by in a flash--with only two little exceptions:

First, my Mama forgot to pick me up. (Apparently, she had errands to do after work and asked Papa to get me.)

Then, 5pm rolled around-- no Mama or Papa. 6pm rolled around-- still no sign of Mama or Papa. 7pm rolled around. Unbeknownst to me, my family was at home, just about to go out to a Thai restaurant for dinner when my Mama asked, "Where's Cooper?"
I've been told that Papa looked up and said, "Oh $&@! I forgot him back at work!"

Thanks guys! Now you remember?!

So poor little me waited and waited and waited and waited for someone to come for me. I'm thinking I might need to hire a driver.

Is that my Grandpa?!

I don't think this picture needs any explanation. I just couldn't believe my eyes! What got into my grandpa?! I think my innocent little puppy mind has been scarred by all that I've witnessed during the holiday festivities! Oh the debauchery!!!

Juicy Turkey Guaranteed

Okay, so I have a secret to share and it has to do with The Juiciest Best Turkey ever.

Unbeknownst to my Mama and Papa, I was watching and learning how to Grill a turkey for our Christmas Eve feast. They learned the recipe from a nice Irishman named John Sullivan from Harvard. His family only makes their turkey this way and he swears by its yummy goodness. (are Harvard people good at cooking too?!)

So don't tell them I told you, but here's the secret to getting your turkey meat to fall off the bone and wow your guests and your pups...

Brine your turkey with H2O and sea salt (enough to make a raw egg float) plus any additional seasoning you desire. Keep the entire bird submerged for 6-24hrs.

After brining, I saw Mama and Papa rub butter, salt and pepper all over the turkey. Then they put it in a tray and onto the grill at the lowest heat. They then barbecued the bird for 12 min/pound.

After putting the turkey on the grill, I heard Papa tell grandma that he was "taking care of the BBQ every 5 minutes." In fact, he and I were watching football the entire afternoon! This turkey came out like pulled-pork, the guests were raving about it and praising Papa. Best of all...we boys barely did any work!!

By the way, I'm only sharing this recipe with the hope that a few kind souls will make it again and share a few morsels with the pup that spilled the beans!

Thanks for a good stay bro

This is my brother Jack from California. Doesn't he look like a total surfer dude? I guess he got the Hollywood looks and I got the Harvard brains. Nonetheless, we're brothers and buddies.

Thanks for the great Vacay bro!

This is the face of the few that I just can't help.  Unfortunately, she's also my Auntie Vie.

I mean, I'm good...but you just can't help them all.   Sometimes you just have to admit defeat.

Oh well!  Show her some love everybody.

My TV Debut!

I was on TV last night!  Can you believe it?  I thought I looked pretty good, if I do say so myself!  I sure hope this informs the community of the benefits of therapy dogs and the good deeds of my workplace, The Countway Library.

On a lighter note, anyone want to be my agent?  I'm thinking that I want to be one of those Hollywood dogs too!

Here is the link to the TV segment:  http://www.thebostonchannel.com/video/29731159/detail.html
