Harvard Union protest

I was a part of the Harvard Union protest yesterday for a fair salary and affordable healthcare. (yes, we pups need health coverage too!) I stood out on the quad with 300 others-- and they even gave me a button. It says, "Harvard works because we do."

They're baaaack!

So the school year has begun and the students are back. I've been a busy guy. A week ago I helped the new students get oriented to the library and today another group of 15 came to see me all at once. I thought I'd take a breather in the late afternoon and sneak a nap, but a nice lady on crutches came to spend time with me. So rather than sleep, I turned on the Coopie-charm. She stayed an hour and a half. I heard the evening librarian telling my Mama this. She was so proud that I did my job and brought a smile to yet another person.

Now I'm exhausted and am looking forward to a good pillow and a little R&R.

I made it to NPR!

Roll out the red carpet It's official. I'm famous.

Last week, I was the topic of an Associated Press article. This week, I was featured as an answer on the NPR show, "Wait wait. Don't tell me."
I think Jeopardy might be calling soon!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Check out this meal Papa and I made for Mama. We made a seafood chioppino, Milky way martinis, pinot grigio and lemon bars for dessert (I had turkey jerky). The candles were my idea, but since I couldn't reach, Papa had to light them.

Anyway, all my love to the ladies this Valentine's Day!

Countway Staff

This is the montage of The Countway Library staff.

If there is any confusion, I'm in the center of the first column. (Can someone tell my agent that all photos must be taken from the front from now on?)

Anyway, my Mama was surprised to see that I cooperated for a profile shot. "I'm not stupid Mama. They said , 'Cooper, let's take it from the Right,' and I said, 'ok, how's this?'"

Go Patriots!

Go Pats! Gotta love Tom Brady!

Okay, so here's the truth. Often times when I'm on campus, I hear people calling out my name. "Cooper! Coooooper!" "How's it goin Cooper?" Sometimes I know them, sometimes I don't. Nevertheless, I wag my tail and let them rub and pat my head. It's all good. They think they're friends of mine-- I think they're fans.

I tell myself, "This is what it's like to be Tom Brady!"

I still got it

Mama came to pick me up after work today and was surprised by a student that called out my name near the library parking lot. I ran up to him with my wagging tail and butt when I heard Mama ask, "Cooper, is that your friend?" Then the kid quickly said, "Everyone's Cooper's friend. Cooper only has friends!"

Yeah yeah kid. Thanks. But Mama, let's get it right, k? Everyone's Cooper's fan.

My sad sad life

I didn't know how good I had it in California. Now that I'm back in Boston, my life has fallen apart!

You see, yesterday they forgot me; today, they forgot to FEED me!!! In the dog-world, that's a cardinal sin.

It went like this:
After their long day at work, I greeted Mama and Papa with kisses and a wagging butt and tail. This exchange resulted in Mama preparing my food for dinner. She dishes that yumminess onto a fresh bowl and begins to set it in the microwave -- when lo and behold, she finds my breakfast still in there!! Yeah, that's right-- my Papa forgot about it this morning and left without feeding me! Oh Papa, how could you?

Woe is me. What has happened to my idyllic suburban life?

They forgot me.

I returned to work today. Hooray! I could barely contain my excitement to see my colleagues and patrons.

The day went by in a flash--with only two little exceptions:

First, my Mama forgot to pick me up. (Apparently, she had errands to do after work and asked Papa to get me.)

Then, 5pm rolled around-- no Mama or Papa. 6pm rolled around-- still no sign of Mama or Papa. 7pm rolled around. Unbeknownst to me, my family was at home, just about to go out to a Thai restaurant for dinner when my Mama asked, "Where's Cooper?"
I've been told that Papa looked up and said, "Oh $&@! I forgot him back at work!"

Thanks guys! Now you remember?!

So poor little me waited and waited and waited and waited for someone to come for me. I'm thinking I might need to hire a driver.

Is that my Grandpa?!

I don't think this picture needs any explanation. I just couldn't believe my eyes! What got into my grandpa?! I think my innocent little puppy mind has been scarred by all that I've witnessed during the holiday festivities! Oh the debauchery!!!

Juicy Turkey Guaranteed

Okay, so I have a secret to share and it has to do with The Juiciest Best Turkey ever.

Unbeknownst to my Mama and Papa, I was watching and learning how to Grill a turkey for our Christmas Eve feast. They learned the recipe from a nice Irishman named John Sullivan from Harvard. His family only makes their turkey this way and he swears by its yummy goodness. (are Harvard people good at cooking too?!)

So don't tell them I told you, but here's the secret to getting your turkey meat to fall off the bone and wow your guests and your pups...

Brine your turkey with H2O and sea salt (enough to make a raw egg float) plus any additional seasoning you desire. Keep the entire bird submerged for 6-24hrs.

After brining, I saw Mama and Papa rub butter, salt and pepper all over the turkey. Then they put it in a tray and onto the grill at the lowest heat. They then barbecued the bird for 12 min/pound.

After putting the turkey on the grill, I heard Papa tell grandma that he was "taking care of the BBQ every 5 minutes." In fact, he and I were watching football the entire afternoon! This turkey came out like pulled-pork, the guests were raving about it and praising Papa. Best of all...we boys barely did any work!!

By the way, I'm only sharing this recipe with the hope that a few kind souls will make it again and share a few morsels with the pup that spilled the beans!

Thanks for a good stay bro

This is my brother Jack from California. Doesn't he look like a total surfer dude? I guess he got the Hollywood looks and I got the Harvard brains. Nonetheless, we're brothers and buddies.

Thanks for the great Vacay bro!

I'm not a miracle worker!

Run for your life!

This is the face of the few that I just can't help.  Unfortunately, she's also my Auntie Vie.

I mean, I'm good...but you just can't help them all.   Sometimes you just have to admit defeat.

Oh well!  Show her some love everybody.

My TV Debut!

I was on TV last night!  Can you believe it?  I thought I looked pretty good, if I do say so myself!  I sure hope this informs the community of the benefits of therapy dogs and the good deeds of my workplace, The Countway Library.

On a lighter note, anyone want to be my agent?  I'm thinking that I want to be one of those Hollywood dogs too!

Here is the link to the TV segment:  http://www.thebostonchannel.com/video/29731159/detail.html

I went to work as Cooper-bumble bee (killer bee). Top that!

Ok Hollywood producers, don't you see how versatile of a leading man I am?

CNN... what are you waiting for?

This is so exciting!  I'm gonna be on TV!  Channel 5 called the Harvard Communications office and setup this interview with me for the Boston local news show, "Chronicle."  I had a camera crew in my face and lots of paparazzi (ie students) in the distance.

Perhaps I really do need a manager? I think I can get used to all this fame!

Watch out Anderson Cooper.  Cooper Anderson wants your job!

CNN... here I come!

Cooper gone wild!

I met a ton of new students yesterday.  They seemed to really enjoy my company.  I was a pretty busy guy.  But I have to admit, a little pup has to blow off some steam sometimes too!

I made a new friend during my break on the quad.  Let's hope he doesn't try to eat me.

My own Fantasy Football Team!

The Crimson Coopers!

I'm so flattered.  One of my new buddies named their football team after little old me!

Now I have to cheer for Aaron Rodgers (and Tom Brady, of course)!

I need an agent.

That's me in the Harvard Gazette (and Mama too)!  I got a little bit busted for dragging her into my business, but she never stays mad at me too long!

Seriously though, I think I need an agent.

I think I'm getting famous!!

This is the current publication of The  Division of Medical Sciences Bulletin from Harvard Medical School.  As you can see, that's me on the cover!

Check it out for yourself: http://dmsbulletin.hms.harvard.edu/?p=1484

Ok Matt Lauer, when are you gonna call?  Maybe I might need to find time in the day to hire a publicist....

Hurricane Irene got me!

What the heck was that!? I had to use the potty and then that hurricane thing blew me away!

I earned a pillow!

Today was my workday. I came home pretty tired. Papa said, "Ok Coop, go ahead. On Thursdays, you can have a pillow too."

08/23/11 Back to work

Phheeew! I'm tired. At first I couldn't control my excitement when I saw all of my colleagues at the library. I happily ran around nonstop like a mad man! But of course, I then had to reel it in and focus on work. The new school year just started, so my first day back from vacay was a tough one: I saw 15 students in one session! --a record for me. I really hope this year's class won't request regular group-therapy sessions!
